Options and features

1. Is there a free trial?
Yes - just sign up for the Free. Please note that the Free plan includes limited features and ads cannot be removed from this plan.

2. Is there a good example of a network besides your demo?
There are so many sites to choose from, but here's a site that's going live right now: http://www.tradersnews.co.uk

3. Can you build a customised platform for my company?
Yes, we can. Please contact us for further information.

4. What is the difference between closed and open sites?
Open sites are open to whoever wants to register; closed sites are open only accessible by members.

5. Can I choose if I want my site open or closed?
If you sign up for any of the paid plans, you can choose to have an open or closed site. On a Free plan, however, you can only have an open site.

6. Can I have my own domain for my social network account (such as http://www.example.com)?
Yes, all you need to do is sign-up and tell us the domain you'd like to use. Then we'll send instructions to forward the domain to your site.

7. What happens if I don't have my own domain?
We will provide you with a free subdomain e.g. http://example.brandstation.tv

8. Can I use my own logo for branding?
Yes, just send contact us with your logo file to use.

9. Can I change the design layout?
Yes, you can select from our available templates. If you need a custom design, this is available for a charge, please contact us.

10. What happens if a member forgets their password?
There is a 'forgot password' link on the login page. If you click on thi, it will reset your password and email this to you.

11. What happens if I enter my email address incorrectly during sign-up?
Don't worry - this can be changed after you login to your site. Use the same details you entered during sign-up for the initial login. If you need further help please contact us but be aware that ID verfication will be required.

12. Can I request training on how to use all the features of my site?
Yes, please contact us for further information on training options.


 

Security and moderation

13. Are my files secure?
Yes. The infrastructure was designed from the ground up to be ultra secure. We have regular independent security checks conducted on our servers, the latest server virus detection, firewalls, and files are stored in a state-of-the-art data centre. Member login passwords are encrypted both in transfer and in your site database.

14. Who ultimately owns the member data?
The site owners own their member data (referred to in our terms as "Social Network User Content"); we simply host it for them.

15. How can I find out how to manage my site ?
You can manage all areas of your site in the admin section and there are tutorial videos in demo.brandstation.tv and also admin help pages here.

16. How do I delete items such as members, blogs, teams, forums, events, RSS feeds or bookmarks?
Login to your site and go to the admin section. Then simply select the area you wish to manage. All items can be edited or deleted by the assigned admin members.

17. Can I let other people manage and moderate my site?
Yes, you can grant admin rights to any member of your network. You can then decide which sections of your site they will be able to manage. If you need help to moderate your site, please contact us as we partner with the worlds leading moderation companies.

18. Can I restrict access to my network?
Yes, this is known as a closed site. When you signup, you will be asked if you want a closed or open site. This can be changed upon request. Free sites cannot be closed.

 

 

Technical

19. What software do I need?
All you need is a web browser (Safari, Internet Explorer or Firefox).

20. How will I know if I'm running out of storage or bandwidth?
We will notify you if you are reaching your plans max storage or bandwidth limits.

21. Can I buy more bandwidth or storage?
More bandwidth is available for any plan at £10 for 10Gig.

22. Can viewmy.tv build widgets for my site?
Yes we can build widgets, gadgets and applications. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

23. Can I get other developers to build widgets for my site?
Yes, widgets, gadgets and applications can be used with the brandstation API (application programming interface). Widgets developed by third parties will need to be approved for security reasons before release and availability.

24. Can I store data on a separate server?
Yes, this is available with an Enterprise plan. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

 

 

Pricing and contract

25. Am I tied in to a long-term contract?
There is a minimum of 6 months contract, after which you can cancel the contract at any time.

26. How can I top up or upgrade my package?
You can manage your billing in your brandstation on-demand site from the admin page. Here you can top up your account, and buy more storage.

27. Are there any other charges?
As we are inside the EU we are required by law to add the standard sales tax for the UK (VAT 15%). Aside from that, there are no hidden or extra charges whatsoever.

28. How can I pay?
We currently accept PayPal and credit card payment. Each month we debit your account from your preferred payment method. We cannot accept cheques or take orders over the phone. Wire transfer may be available for verified customers.

29. What if I want to pay in currency other than pounds sterling?
We will convert the currency charge to your local currency using the exchange rate available on the day you sign up. To find out what the exchange rate is for your currency, go to www.xe.com.

30. Can I be billed via invoice instead of by credit card?
That is possible for the Standard plan and above but only after the initial month payment. Please contact us for more information.

31. How do I change my method of payment?
To change your method of payment you need to login to your site and go to Account Settings. If you're having difficulty please contact us for assistance.

32. If I sign up half-way through a month, when will I next get charged?
You will be charged monthly from the date of signup.

33. If I cancel will you refund the current month's charges?
Unfortunately not. We don't issue refunds for payments that have already been taken. If you want to cancel, make sure to do it before the next monthly billing.

34. Can I reassign site ownership if I sell or leave my social network?
Yes, we can reassign site ownership on condition that your account is up-to-date and that the new site owner agrees to our standard terms and conditions.
